At 3 p.m., the Jersey City Fire Department responded to a fire on the second floor at 289 Van Nostrand Ave., Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.
While battling the blaze, firefighters located Terrence Culbreath in the kitchen of the unit, Suarez said. He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Suarez said. suppression
The fire remains under investigation by the Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and the Jersey City Fire Department, Suarez said.
Foul play is not suspected, Suarez said.
